Usually the way it works is with an in initial deposit once driver is confirmed and the remaining balance is due upon delivery of the car to the driver. Payment to driver must be done with cash, cashiers check or money order. Some drivers take credit cards, however this must be arranged before car is picked up to avoid misunderstandings later. Initial deposit can be taken with a card over the phone. In the case payment will be done with a check, check must be cleared before driver picks the car, make sure proper arrangements are done to avoid problems and delays.
What is the cancellation policy?
Each company has different cancellation policies, it is very important you ask your agent what are their policies in case of cancellation. Cancellation policies differ before and after initial deposit has been made. In the case initial deposit has not been made, you simply must advice your agent the service will not be required, however if cancellation is done after deposit is done, deposit is non-refundable and dry run fees for cancelling driver on last minute may incur.
Can I have someone else on the pickup location or delivery location?
Owner of the car is not required to be on pick up or delivery location. Any person can receive or give away the car, however this person must be included in the contract prior to the car being picked up for our records, also because the driver needs the contact information in order to arrange exact pickup and delivery times.
What is 1st available date for pick up means?
First available pickup date refers to exact date the car is ready to go. And estimate pickup is not the same and will cause inconveniences if a driver is available. This date is extremely important especially your car is being picked up from a dealer, an auction or a private seller. Payments must be settled and cleared on both ends in order to avoid cancellation and dry run fees.
Can I load the car with personal belongings?
The first thing you must keep in mind before you start to get personal with your agent is that you're contracting car transport services not moving services. Car transport specializes only in the transport of cars and will not cover any extra belongings. Some companies allow up to 75 lbs of soft good to be taken in the trunk of the car, however these items are not covered by the insurance, these are strictly under the customer's responsibility. In the case these items are allowed make sure you make proper arrangements to insure your items if your find necessary.
